The artwork below was created by my students in the second and third grade in the Young Artists' workshop program at USC. We completed a unit on our future selves. In the first lesson, we imagined where we would live in the future. I contacted parents to get photos of the students with people who are important to them to include in their future landscape. In the second lesson, we imagined what job we would have in the future. In the background, we created a pattern of an object we would need for our job. Finally, we created out "Myself Inside and Out" artworks. I traced the students heads from a projector and they cut it out. Around their silhouette, they drew themselves "on the outside", or the things that they liked. On the inside, they wrote what kind of person they were on the inside or how they aspired to be. We learned about typography and the students designed the words on their own.
