The fourth graders at Rice Creek drew themselves in their own style of Anime. To begin, we looked at their favorite cartoons, like Pokemon and Naruto, to see how the cartoon artists design their characters. We identified the different types of eyes, noses, mouths, and other features that can be drawn. We spent one day practicing drawing as many facial features as we could so that when we began our large portrait we were prepared. We learned how to draw facial features by identifying simple shapes, like a circle for the pupil of the eye. When we started our big portrait, we learned how to draw big and limit erasing to get the best face shape. We finished off our portraits by designing our own hair, t-shirts, and background!
